SURGERY

 

A surgeon may be the physician with whom you start to develop your treatment plan. At a surgical consultation, you'll review in detail the results from your imaging and pathology studies and receive a thorough clinical exam. Your surgeon will evaluate the need for any further diagnostic tests and will discuss your options for surgical management. After surgery, your breast surgeon will make any referrals needed to medical oncologists and/or radiation oncologists. Your surgeon will continue to see you periodically for five years or more.
