NUCLEAR MEDICINE

Nuclear medicine imaging provides your treating physicians with images of your body that are valuable tools in the diagnosis and monitoring of disease processes. Nuclear medicine imaging procedures are noninvasive and usually painless medical tests that help physicians evaluate cancer. In the care of breast disease, patients may meet with a nuclear medicine specialist prior to surgery to receive an injection which helps map lymphatic drainage in the breast, or they may receive a PET scan to evaluate the extent of breast cancer.
