RADIATION ONCOLOGY

 

You may be referred to a radiation oncologist after surgery. These physicians use specialized equipment to deliver therapeutic radiation as part of your breast care treatment plan. Radiation therapy can be used in conjunction with a partial mastectomy (or "lumpectomy") for breast conservation therapy. It is also sometimes used after mastectomy and to treat metastatic breast cancer.
